Starting Android Development
Starting android development is fun and challenging, I wish I knew which was the best book to read. however, I bought one that I thought was good and here is what I found, they give you the code you can either retype it or you can download it and then what it runs right? but who cares in essence it’s not covering any of the explanatory things it should in order for me to know what the hell is going on.
Why I’m starting android development. money. look I can charge for themes this is like a dress up for my phone, they sell for $1.50 and the price even at 50 cents lower doesn’t necessarily guarantee extra sales, well that was test one, I’ll have to retest that theory. But enter themes, So you get popular here with something that is fun to use and great for productivity. Let’s get 40,000 sales and since it’s an app you can charge extra. how soon I’m hoping to make 1 million dollars? 1 million sales netting a dollar a sale, great, is it possible? android is new but popularity you can bet will make selling on the marketplace very lucrative.
I have an idea to build a theme that is simple, it vibrates. Million dollars here I come.

Affiliate Marketing
wow what a subject. Even as I entered into it, I found people saying it was dead. Don’t be disheartened tho, If you are wanting to try. Nothing beats a check from commission junction click here But for me it took for ever to get sales, and maybe I wasn’t doing it enough, with enough web sites. Even if you have a web site remember, it’s useless if you don’t get traffic. It was a great opportunity to get an interview at PPN here in Winnipeg, such a nice looking atmosphere. and They are working for an airline company doing the same stuff I’m guessing, wouldn’t it have been nice to work on css web pages for a change.
One good thing about affiliate marketing, is if you are starting out a web designer career or are a student of web development here in Winnipeg at the Red River College, let me tell you, anything you can possible want to practice can be found by doing affiliate marketing. plus in the end you might get paid for it.

Google Rankings (SEO)
New google rankings (SEO) well, y’see I’ve had a business card website for a long time, at first I registered it as a local business, and people were calling it was great, but then google slap.
anyhow now with a redone website I’ve optimized it for Toronto, and sure that’s should be great if I got calls for that one, because there are much more searches in Toronto.
However for some reason my Toronto site is showing up in Winnipeg searches.. ie “Winnipeg stuff i’m searching for”
So I’m thinking it’s from the android phone I have and it registering my google account. It has GPS so maybe this is an explanation, plus my webpage has my phone number on it, which maybe is something they do…
Google is awesome.
Mobile apps
So when internet began i remembered that most pages were hard to look at and thus quite un appealing, not much good came from the internet as even if you were looking for information it was scarce.
But now there’s everything on the internet and anyone can make you a webpage.
They even have google on the go or Android Phones.
Where is it all going?
With more mobile users than there are internet users? is this possible? everyone wants a new smart phone don’t they? the Apps they put out are more and more useful. For example you can hold your droid phone up to the sky at night and you can see the stars in a star map. How about going shopping and taking a scanner to scan an items barcode, you instantly get competing prices from local stores if you’re in America.
Data plans are expensive when youre outside your service area by the way.
Mobile apps? for example I can take a picture and throw it into a theme generator, out pops a them ready to be installed into your android phone. All a user needs is one of the super popular them widgets.
The best part? you can put this theme out into the android marketplace, and check back everyday to see if any has sold. =) man.

Search engine optimization SEO and local listings
- OK, so I went and did a web page for my uncle, on the domain www.wingortailor.com it was a simple web page but compared to the web pages of other tailors in Winnipeg it was the most optimized.
- What did this mean for my uncle? well his local search engine ranking, the ones where local businesses are listed at the top of the list for a query like “Winnipeg tailor” went straight to #1, as time passed, abou 2 years, his organic search ranking went to number one. Try searching “Winnipeg tailor” in Google.
- You’ll see that now that he didn’t renew his page and I pulled the website from his local listing his local listing ranking is dropping. The organic rank for his web page outside the list is still around #1 but now it is the URL for my Winnipeg business cards site. You can get a business card with a QR barcode in it which is great for networking, but that’s not all it can do, it can fix you up with a bunch of neat things to see on your Iphone.
- Sadly, but then again, maybe it’s for the best, because now anyone who is looking for business suits tailored will find my business card suit. It wasn’t like there were hundreds a day looking for his services online tho and if you do a search for how many actual people were online looking for a tailor the number is not too high. I renewed the domain with the company credit card thinking he would renew his yearly subscription, but he canceled and now I found a piece of knowledge to share with you guys: if you want to rank high in the local listings, you have to have a web page. And if you want a web page for this purpose, a good investment is the 5 minutes it takes to find out how many people are actually searching for your services locally.
